Gangster - A story of love and betrayal

If Ram Gopal Verma has his FACTORY to create off beat films set in commercial modes, then VISHESH FILMS too have created their own genre of films. A genre that encapsulates the right elements of shock value, sex, thrills and drama that results in a potboiler 'masala' fare! What also stands out in most of their flicks is a distinct storyline that keeps the viewer guessing at every step. 'Gangster' is one such film from their stable that releases few weeks down the line. Directed by Anurag Basu who has a super hit 'Murder' to his credit, 'Gangster' may be taking ample inspiration from the real life story of a gangster and his girlfriend but the treatment promises to be of the kind that makes for a good commercial outing. And why not when the nation's upcoming heartthrob Emraan Hashmi starring in the film, though the title role is played by the hottest discovery of 2005 - Shiney Ahuja. Kangna Raut, a stunning theatre actor, makes her Bollywood debut as a sole heroine in the film.

SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM...THE DAY SHE BETRAYED HIM

This is how the film's plot is described in one line. Now everyone understands that the 'she' is none other than Kangna Ranaut, but who is that man who gets betrayed? Is it the same man who the lady is in love with? Or she loves someone else and betrays the other?

Lots of questions! Lots of curiosity! Lots of suspense'n'drama! That's GANGSTER for you.

The love story of Daya [Shiney Ahuja] and Simran [Kangana Ranaut] was a little weird, or rather unpredictable.

They loved each other despite the distance factor
They loved each other despite the fact they were two distinct personalities
They loved each other despite the fact that they didn't meet each other for months at stretch

They loved each other despite the fact that Daya was a criminal - A GANGSTER

The only thing that tied them together - their DREAMS!!!

Daya was a criminal, a man at large who was hunted around by the police all over the globe. Though there was not much in his life to cheer about, there was only one person who brought him happiness - his ladylove Simran. She too reciprocated his love but wanted only one thing in return - a simple life with kids, home and lots of love from the man of her dreams.

With a kind of life Daya lived, would he be able to give Simran whatever she desired?

A contrasting personality Akash [Emraan Hashmi] soon enters Simran's life. A happy-go-lucky young man, he has in him everything that Simran wanted from her dream partner. Though he is a little careless when it comes to realizing the value of life, he lives every day and enjoys to the fullest.

Will Akash turn out to be the man who would be able to give Simran whatever she desired?

Akash and Simran start getting closer to each other fully realizing that they are walking a road of thorns. While Akash learns the lessons of life the hard way, Simran is in a dilemma regarding the man she wants to spend her life with!

Will Daya return back to give Simran whatever she desired? Or will police nail him down to permanently separate him from his lady love?

Does Simran go back to him if he pulls her in his arms?

Whom does she BETRAY?

Daya, a man who has selflessly loved her all these years?
Or Akash who has shown her the way to live her dreams?

A Mukesh Bhatt film shot in never-seen-before city of Seoul, 'Gangster' has superb musical score by Pritam [in true Bhatt tradition] and releases early in the month of May.
