Landlord files to have Bianca Jagger evicted
By Andres Martinez Court TV | April 6, 2005
A two-year legal battle between Bianca Jagger and her landlord could leave the environmental activist without a home. Katz Park Avenue Corp. filed a lawsuit last week seeking to evict Jagger from her two-bedroom Park Avenue apartment. Jagger, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, stopped paying her $4,600 monthly rent in July 2003, claiming that water damage in her apartment had led to harmful levels of mold. She told New York magazine that "her eyes began to feel bleary" after she discovered the water damage in 2001.

By Phil Gast and Steve Almasy, CNN | August 29, 2012
Kim Duplantier's three-story colonial plantation-style home survived Hurricane Katrina, albeit with 3 feet of unwelcome water on the bottom floor. But Isaac, still a hurricane when it made landfall in Louisiana, had something more in mind. The slow-moving storm presented an insidious calling card after heavy rains "overtopped" a levee in the town of Braithwaite in Plaquemines Parish. At 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Duplantier said, a couple of inches of water was evident in her redbrick home and in her parents' residence nearby.

Thai capital escapes worst of flooding
October 17, 2011
Thai authorities on Monday moved to ease fears that the devastating floods that have engulfed much of the country will swamp the capital. The country's Flood Relief Operation Command (FROC) reported that flood defense measures in low-lying Bangkok have held and that the bloated Chao Praya River has not risen any further. There had been fears that further heavy rain over the weekend combined with the spring high tides would overwhelm parts of the city. "The water situation in Bangkok city is no longer a worry and today is the end of the high tide period," FROC spokesperson Wim Rungwattanachinda told CNN. However, Irrigation department director general Chalit Damrongsak warned the situation remained critical as water from low-lying areas north of Bangkok still needed to drain.
